Hi, I’m Abbey! I grew up in a small town in Southeast Alaska (Gustavus), and moved to the Interior in 2014 to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks where I graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences. I’ve worked jobs in field ecology since then for both NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network) and the National Park Service, mostly in botany. My love for nature and wilderness travel lent itself very well to dog mushing, which I was introduced to in 2020.  After one winter training with racing dogs and another of guiding overnight mushing trips outside of Fairbanks, I couldn't stop thinking about mushing and started my own kennel in 2023.

Building a kennel from the ground up has been a lot of work, but already the most rewarding thing imaginable. I can't wait to keep growing with my team. My kennel was started with two main litters, the Pokemon and the Boogiemonsters, who are finally old enough to hit the race trails in full force next winter as we take on our Iditarod qualifiers.

If you see us on the trails, you are likely to see Clark, my giant malamute. Clark was my first dog ever, adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter in 2020. He thinks he is the best sled dog ever, and while he's not a part of the race team, he kinda can be the best sled dog for about 3 miles before he gasses out.

While almost all of my time is spent working on something related to my dogs/kennel now, I also enjoy spending time in the mountains, learning new plants, backpacking, travelling, reading, hunting, and making art!
